We are blessed to have a wonderful team of people who come to help us each week in our kitchen, cafe and with our admin.  Without them, we simply would not be able to produce the amount of food we do - or keep our kitchen clean and tidy.  In our project's first year, over 30 people have volunteered with us!  Take a look at our current crew and their motivations for doing what they do.

Our Volunteers

Susan

Susan

I started volunteering at the Roundhouse to fill some of my time. I am still in awe of the idea and process of being able to use excess food and prepare nutritious meals.

I started Volunteering at the Roundhouse to help people who are less fortunate, in some way, than other people.

Sandra

I started volunteering at the Roundhouse for the opportunity to help make a difference for others.

I started volunteering at the Roundhouse because I was fed up being at home all the time. Its amazing to see what can be accomplished with food that would otherwise go to waste. I enjoy the company here and singing and dancing along with the radio.

Fraser

I started volunteering at the Roundhouse 6 months ago to learn how to be safe in the kitchen, as well as other areas.  I enjoy the coffee machine the most.

I started volunteering at the Roundhouse to fill my time, I really enjoy helping with the food prep and am enjoying the time I spend here.

I worked as a biology teacher in Dundee for 35 years i started volunteering at the Roundhouse because I have always enjoyed cooking, and have seen the decline in healthy diets and how it has affected people's ability to learn.  I want to make a positive difference.

I started volunteering at the Roundhouse for a reference, but in my time here I have gained more skills and knowledge in the kitchen.

Mahmuda

I retired in 2020 and part of my plan was to volunteer 1 day a week with a local organisation.  I heard about the community kitchen through a friend, and it seemed like the ideal thing for me.  Read more about Karen's experiences with the Community Kitchen here!
